A silver minnow of a girl
slinking, thinking,
waiting, drinking
lithe as Degas
light as Degas
dark-eyed in the pool
in the school-pool waiting
long tendrils clinging
full-lips off-key singing
singing and waiting
waiting for the older boy
her brother's friend, flinging
bright smiles his way, swinging
back on the drink
sinewy legs calling
to the boy on the brink,
that confident boy
excited and aroused
by those slim legs shifting
dark-eyes, small breasts lifting
those pouty wet lips
gleam of tongue
girlish hips---
---But alarm fills his eyes
and his confidence flies
a shuddering inhaling wheeze
a wheeze and space-time tearing sneeze
expanding that moment miniscule
into a morbid horrid hour
a horrid hour blasting
like Mount St. Helen's cousin wrasting
shockwaves from the deep
the deep return tsunami rifting
light-girl lifting slim and slender
back
back to the edge
her laughter lilting soft
a rippling music wafts aloft
her childish finger pointing
double-jointing as she laughs.
Pointing at what?
at the horror on his face
at that foot-long hanging goo
a complete sinus-snot evac
slime clinging
swinging
thank God not flinging
from his nose
the nose of the boy
the boy on the brink
the pool-fool fop
flopping back slap slap to the locker-room slop
followed by a silver siren's
sweet giggling
wriggling through the air
her swinging swim
sing-songing
toward the middle,
floating
waiting
wiggling
lithe as Degas
light as Degas
dark-eyed in the pool
full lips turning blue
in the school-pool waiting
waiting for that older boy
her brother's friend
to catch that thing he lost
to catch his courage
once again.
